My paintings are primarily of historic Park City townscapes and our local landscape, western landscapes, farm animals and wildlife. Most recently I'm painting a lot of daily plein air painting in local rural landscapes and old farms. In my plein airand studio paintings I paint with oils on linen or gessoed board creating a texture in the gesso with brushes that shows undermy painting. I use a variety of brushes from old, worn, and haggard to pristine. Lately I am enjoying using a palette knife more and more.

When I am in the presence of nature, of animals, of a certain kind of light, I am immediately restored to peace, to wholeness, to an indescribable calm. For me, these experiences are nothing less than sacred. I strive to create paintings which reflect this experience.

My work is included in several collections in Utah, my home state, as well as across the US. I exhibit my paintings in local and national shows. You can find my cards and prints in the Park City Museum on Main Street Park City and at Artworks on Main Street. My paintings are represented by Montana Trails Gallery in Bozeman MT, Gallery MAR in Park City, The Gallery at Clarkes in Southern Utah, and by Jan Perkins Studio http://janperkins.com.
